Spring Classes POSTPONED

This was posted on the Hands On ASL! Facebook page.

I want to thank you for your interest in learning ASL with Hands On ASL! Due to the provincial and local measures that are in place in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, many services and businesses are closed until further notice. The 519 has announced they are closed until further notice as well. Hands On ASL! will be postponing both Toronto and Hamilton classes until the Fall.

In the meantime, if you still want to learn/practice some ASL, there is another option for you! Our ASL instructors are happy to skype with you and tutor one on one if you are interested.

Please email me at reachhandsonasl@gmail.com to inquire further.

Those who have registered and paid for the spring class, refunds will be sent out as soon as tomorrow.

Please email me if you have any questions. As much as I want you all to learn ASL in a socially interactive environment as it is an important and necessary thing to do, I would much rather have you stay safe and help us keep folks who are older and/or immunocompromised stay safe as well.
Sending positive vibes to all!

Michelle

Spring has arrived…

We are off to a late start with registration for Spring classes. There was a bit of a struggle getting classes up and running this session. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

Toronto classes are set up to start week of April 21st. Information about Hamilton classes will be coming soon. We hope to offer ASL 101 and 102 in Hamilton!

Winter’s upon us! What’s happening?

Some folks are wondering if we’ll be offering ASL 101 in Toronto in the winter session.  Unfortunately, we do not have enough instructors to provide an ASL 101 course along with ASL 102 and 103 in Toronto.

However, we’re happy to announce that we have an instructor from Hamilton available to teach at Pride Hamilton and we’re excited to be able to give those who have waited quite a while for this opportunity to learn ASL.

Thanks to everyone for your their patience and understanding as we continue to work hard towards finding better resources and more instructors for these queer and trans ASL classes.

Fall is here! What’s happening?

Fall course registration is underway!  We are able to offer ASL 101 and ASL 102.  We would love to offer ASL 103 but we do not have enough resources at this time to do so.  We hope to have this level available in the winter session.  Keep your fingers crossed!

We are also having an Open House on September 22nd for those who are curious about Hands On ASL! classes.  We are offering a free ASL and Deaf Culture Workshop as well.  Interpreters will be provided and we are currently looking for volunteer notetakers.

Hope to see you out at these events!

What’s happening these days?

Things are happening, folks.  Registration is now underway for Queer and Trans ASL classes!

As well, I’m happy to announce that a date has been set for this year’s summer Queer and Trans ASL retreat! Mark your calendars – Friday, July 27th… on Toronto Island!

Hope to see you at these events!!
